Tokyo, China - Chinese animation studio A4works confirmed it had halted production on the series 呼唤少女 (roughly translates to Horny Girls Doing Nothing) after it was revealed that nearly the entire budget had been blown on anime figurines for the staff. "Some people are upset, but it's not the worst use of our budget by any stretch," stated director Tazumi Cortez. "We were just making a clone of a show people have seen a hundreds times already. Hardly anything of value was lost by choosing to purchase figurines instead." The show received an estimated budget of $14,000,000 - one of the highest on record. Instead, nearly all of the money went into purchasing 331 anime figurines. While there was some dismay on X (formerly Twitter), many others applauded the decision noting the clear bulk discount A4works received when purchasing. "Only $42k per figurine? That's a steal these days," said X user MakeMeAFemboyPlease.

Horny Girls Doing Nothing was announced last year by A4works promising to be "yet another show where teenage girls do nothing remarkable in the slightest." The studio and production company noted that the show was hoping to target the couch potato and NEET segments of the market, and that the show's success could help bring tourists, entrepreneurs, and socially awkward weeaboos to China's doorstep. A4works has noted that they are almost set to crowdfund their next project already. The project they are hoping to work on next is titled 女少唤呼 (roughly translates to Generic Dude Becomes Irresistible to Women After Be Teleported to an Uninspired Fantasy Land).
