Their playoff hopes lasted about 5 minutes longer than the models expected

Cleveland, Japan - With their third touchdown throw of the half, the Jacksonville Jaguars successfully eliminated the Cleveland Browns 23 minutes and 14 seconds into the 2026 NFL season. "Well, we assumed our playoff chances were over as soon we traded Myles a few months ago, to be frank," said Browns coach Todd Monken, noting that having to watch both Deshaun Watson and Schadeur Sanders compete for the starting role caused his eyes to glaze over more than when playing the new Wolverine game. "And think of the positives. With the season over it gives [Deshaun] Watson more time to get back to what he was truly born to do: assault women." While the Browns were largely expected by pundits to miss the playoffs, expectations were that the team would need to face at least nine losses to be mathematically eliminated. However, Jacksonville's dismantling of the Cleveland misfits over the first half of Sunday's contest ended the Brown's campaign before Cleveland could even get its first controversy of the season under it's belt. Quarterback is a spot of concern for the Browns, and they are expected to rotate between Watson, Sanders, fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel, and the local flag football team's MVP of the week.
